ARTIST-IN-RESEIDENCE 2020
BRANDYWINE WORKSHOP & ARCHIVES | DOS TRES PRESS
As an artist in residence at Brandywine Workshop & Archives during the coronavirus pandemic, I along with other residence worked virtually with master printers to create our editions. This variable edition relief print was created with the help of master printer Alexis Nutini of Dos Tress Press. The socially distanced nature of the program resulted in a collaborative approach that blends my layering topographical designs with the intense processes of Nutini's reduction block style and vivid color palettes.

The edition depicts my father's portrait in profile, the contours that create his likeness mimic the growth things of a tree that with each passing year define its character, give it strength and internalize its flaws and scars. I like that the linear contours create a constant measure of the form amidst the changing palettes. It reflects the way I’ve perceived my father and the progression of our relationship over time, the complexities of which are revealed with each layer amounting to nuanced impressions of the same person.
